The Note July, '05 Chicago. DEADBIRD vrs RUE Deadbird is from Fayetville Arkansas, which is the heart of Death country. Deadbird is one of the most amazing bands you will hear, akin to Rwake, as the lead guitarist/vocalist was brother in arms with the mighty Rwake a while back. The Shaf brothers have been in many great underground Arkansas bands that you will never hear of including Slickshine, Mothersdayout, and Benoit which you can see a secret video for on the very first DOOMED NATION . Even after getting all of their gear stolen at emissions, they still managed to pull it together for this Chicago show. |

Though it was at the worst venue ever, this show was TOTALLY AMAZING. Deadbird is so technicly perulent, yet chuged out and heavy. Its like Judast Preist and Crowbar had a kid, and it was raised by His Hero is Gone, and beaten daily until it was this damaged super being of evil and pain. Seriously all these great elements From Rwake to Thin Lizy come across in this melodic, heart felt attack which includes charming riffs backed up by devestating tonality and death march breakdowns. I don't see how anyone could not be in total awe of this band, and especially live it was a complete delite, and a memorable experience up there with the best shows I have ever seen. You must make every effort to see this band. |

RUE has been around for a couple of years now and has already run trhough a series of line up changes. Founded by members of Sofa King Killer, and Fistula, RUE is a sludgy, stoner rock force, with soilent/acid vocals. They played some new songs, with a a new drummer that had only practiced with them three times. It was not as tight as on the record, but it was loud, and the tone was good, and Bahb from Fistula was deffinately tearing it up in the corner with the twin bass cabs. Deffinately good to see all those guys again, just bumed that they couldn't stay to par teah. See the show more rue pics. more show reviews |
