See Rue Art

Bottom Lounge Sep3rd '04 Chicago.
I was among the few to have the pleasure to see and hear the sound of North East Ohio come to Chicago when Rue came through to pummel with a strange blend of sludgy, heavy hitting and at times technical metal. The band has both current and ex-members of Sofa King Killer, Fistula and Rune, with the resent edition of a second guitarist, Andy, from 23rd Chapter. Thats some Masonic shieet!
It was my first time as witness to Rue, and I was impressed, especially by the new material that they busted out...Very exciting for fan's of Mastodon or Neurosis, even though the guitarist Mike Burns says that it is totally influenced by Keelhaul. So after a short tour they will head into the studio around spring with a new drummer, and bust out what they promised will be even more sludgy and devastating stuff, hopefully Mike gets a sunn head, instead of the Fender 50watt combo he's been using............just kidding!

But talk about DEVASTATION, Buried at Sea graced us with no less than two songs...Which is about 45 minutes of sonic, drone, drone, drone. If you have not heard of this band, than you are a fool! If you have none of their cds, than your status as a fool is comparable to that of an idiot! Do not let any one know how unintelligent you are, quickly self enlighten...buriedatsea.net
This band are the loudest hands down, and have to be seen to be believed. If you say Sunn O))), well when Sunn came to Chicago, they asked to use Buried at Sea's equipment. I forgot the batteries to my camera, but luckily Jared Weiser took some great photos, and let me use them for this little review. Thankz Jared!
