| Man oh man, another great show tore through Chicago with a vengeful fury. However, there was a certain sadness in the air, maybe it was the lack of attendees, maybe it was the Note, who cut the bands off from alcohol, maybe it was some other dark thing creeping in the intentions of someone. The best band in the world RWAKE played with Weedeater and Debris Inc. There was this cool band from Texas that played some cool dirge stuff, but for the life of me I can't remember their name. They should email me though. |

| Rwake, like many of the best bands in the world, has had a long history of hardship. Being piss pore and from Arkansas, with the Law always on your tail and trying to tour the country with a six piece band is no easy task. Yet the persevere somehow and continue to bring us the most insane psychedelic evil metal known to man. Perhaps what spawned the sadness was the Lack of barefooted elk-horned B who not only destroys with sonic sweeping moeg sounds, also, despite her petite size, fucking destroys with insane black metal vocals. However, guitarist Kiffin Rogers successfully covered the chore of back up vocals, and I couldn't have been more happy. They also played their 12 minute Arkansas opus "Piss and Shit" a RARE treat indeed, as many times as I have seen this band, I have never heard them play that! Their repertoire is huge, talented dedicated drunk mother fuckers. |
Also, a never heard cover of NAZARETH's "We sold our soul" fucking pummeled as a well appreciated encore. Cheers to Fucking RWAKE! The best band in the world. |

Debris Inc. who is the brain child of cult Doom masters Dave Chandler and Ron Holzner, also played. Another source of sadness is the recent loss of friend and Drummer Berry Stern, who passed away from surgery complications. Dave and Ron played their strange blend of old school Doomy Punk, a project that they have been working on for years, finally at full fruition with the release of their first album available on riseabove records. Their set was very tight, and got my head-a bangin, as well as the other five people at this shitty bar..."I don't listen to bullshit" |
| Weedeater has been in Chicago so many times its not even funny. They of course crushed without remorse, playing songs like "For Evans Sake" and "Give me Back my Bullets". Still plenty of stompin and robitussin drinkin, but still there was a sadness somehow. May bee it's due to people with no respect, up to dirty deeds in the darkened back corners of the note in Chicago. To each his own I suppose, farewell to friendship. Overall, Rwake rules all, and this was another great show that practically no one saw. Awesome. See Weedeater video more reviews |
