First off, the El REy Theater is way too expensive, but its really big, and was totally packed. So, I guess it was a necessary evil.
WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM were pretty much AMAZING. They started at 7:45, so I only caught the last song. It was flawlessly executed in all epic manners. If your lucky enough to be in a town where this band is playing, then I reccomend getting there early for crusty doomy black metal, I guess a better description would be to says its Grume.
I wasn't on top of things and my camera ran out of juice, but I managed this obscurity

WEEDEATER followed with a whole lotta stompin' and southern rockin'...Actually, the same set they always play, for like the past four years, sans the Robitussum. They did mix it up by playing "Riff" which was entirely devestating...Too bad the whiskey was sooo expensive. Pepper Keenan was in the front row, jamming out. Apparently in town mixing the new Down, just some spare change
The legendary EARTH then took the stage. No trippy, sludgy, animorphic drone. This was straight forward, all new stuff. His guitar tone was flawless, like a real blues tone, backed by organ. It was like Bob Seager slowed down exponentially, or like the slowest part of Led Zeppelin's "no quarter" slowed down even more. Still very impressive. The fifth song started and sounded exactly like all the rest, and then I got bored, and instead watched the wierdos who were headbanging to this, or otherwise overendulging in some euphoric post blues/drone bliss. For the most part, super good, Earth has evolved into it's own universe, that being akin to an ancient gunslinger's soul lost in a limbo of tumble weeds and slow motion dust. An easy reallity to become ensconed in...but It makes me wish I saw them back in the day.
then there was Sunno)))...Which, I feel, any review of would be superfluous.
Anyway, this tour is heading up the westcoast, collect all the money that your friends owe you, or sneak in the back door or do whatever ya gotta do to get in
