Sourvein "Emerald Vulture" Vengeance is mine sayeth the lord. Holy SHIT!!! Sourvein is BACK and BRUTAL as EVER with this CRUSHING new release!!! With an all new line up and totally new sound. Troy seems to vomit up bile covered vocals containing twisted and personal musings sizzling over fatty riffs that sound like evil demon tanks churning through valleys of ground up corpse guts. Some of the new members feature guitarist Will from Mugwart and Vince from Beaten back to Pure. Being a big Sourvein fan, I was really eager to hear what this proven sludge team would come up with together, and It TOTALLY DELIVERS almost flawlessly pounds of devastating doomed out sludge, especially on "Witch Rides Out", the gem of the album, with a quality dynamic and catchy hook. My only complaint is half way through the record, there is a horrible feedback loop which is unoriginal, unending and over all annoying, it really puts a damper on what would otherwise be called a perfect listening experience. If I had any other complaint it would be that this is only 5 songs long...They had better put something else together soon because now that i have a taste, i am jonesin' for more! This Dark Reign |
| ULTRALORD "We Hate you and hope you die " OH MY ULTRALORD! This record is SERIOUSLY evil. Down tuned, down trodden, down to earth mother fuckers speaking directly from the swollen black-rot, maggot-festered heart. These songs ooze like putrid puss from aged gang green wounds of the soul. The cover art, by guitarist Scott Stearns sums up everything. Up-front and Unapologetic. Speaking of disgusting rusty riffs, Scott takes the strings of the guitar and runs them through one ear drum and out the other, then pulls it back and forth like a saw until all that's left is mush. Bahb from Fistula promptly revels in such mush with insanely brutal and painfully sick vocals yielding bombastic lyrics like "I wouldn't piss in your mouth...if your teeth were on fire"and "I am who I am, I won't apologize for me". This is so old school, the sound and attitude brings me back to when I was 12 and first got into metal. All the feelings are there too, these are anthems for the abused. Listening to this music will give you strength. There is NO reason why you should not own this record. This Dark Reign |

| Watch Me Burn "Wolf that ate the sun" Technically affluent musicianship with high quality recording mixed with low tuned sludge and a callous female vocalist create this barbarous 4 song recording. These are ferocious songs with a distinct understanding of pedal effects employed flawlessly to lull the listener with temporary euphoria then ruthlessly changing direction with blasts of merciless grindage. Created here are very impressive, very heavy and very infectious grooves. Absolutely worth checking into. Vomit Core |

| Yakuza- "Samsara" A Chicago band for many years evolves into an entire new entity. A most impressive mutation of Death metal and Sonic Rock. As spastic as a cosmic roller coaster on acid that takes you from the pondering voids of deep space, then quickly rockets you to the center of the magma planet core where charred corpses scream in torment as you fly through a reality of endless suffering only to be launched once more into fluffy clouds of atmosphere. Assured by shifting northern lights that you are in the embrace of the all loving auricular god which nurtures all audible phonics as you are lulled through sensual olfactory space-scapes of phonic ecstasy, only to be be once more dropped through the transonic barrier to places of remorseless sonic savagery. A fantastic listening experience. It is heavy, it is trippy, it is certainly a delightful recording that you should procure with out hesitation. Prosthetic Records |

Resistant Culture "Welcome to Reality " A rally cry of frustration and horror at the debasement of the earth from a Native American perspective. Thick guitar sounds and marauding yet unique percussion. Crusty and foreboding, screaming with blood soaked hands of the debasement and misuse of natural resources and the perversion of human rights. This speaks out and encourages action. If your looking for something totally fast and furiously brutal as well as thought provoking, this is the record for you...You may just end up planting a tree afterwards. Great live! Check it out! | Starchild- "Born into Eternity" Very mellow, very blue, very cosmic. Starchild delivers their second full length that departs a bit from their previous recordings. However, still retaining their distinctive affinity towards the Sabbath sound. These Waycross Georgia boys divaricate into slightly askant musical maundering's while still hooking the listener in with some catchy stoner licks. This is an interesting record, it is not fast at any point, and it is not typically heavy, but it is still...heaaavyyyy... in deep sense. Much like a great led zeppelin record that employs acoustic bedazzlement weaved between rock and roll catawampusness. Like a nice trip...into a the after life. The art isn't half bad either.
