Kylesa "To Walk a middle Course" lp Kylesa delivers yet another amazing full length. This is one of the hardest working bands out there, with non stop touring, they some how found time to hook-up with legendary producer Alex Newport of Fudgetunnel to create this latest release. It definitely has a different sound, but every single album by this band has a different sound. It shows growth. It really traverses a wide range from slow and trippy to fast and hard, with lyrics about exhaustion and distrust to self doubt. Dreams...Of what could have been. -Compilation This is one of the finest compilations to come my way, it is infact the self titled "Ultimate Sludge Compilations". It contains never before heard songs from Soulpreacher , two of the coolest I've heard from them. Two unheard tracks from the Mighty FISTULA which totally sound stoner doomy, like what Rue sounds like, except with Corey Bing's sick Popeye on acid voice, especially in "Drug Smuggler" where he states "I'm willing to take the chance again"...Fistula rules all. Also, is some GRIEF that I had never heard, sounds like drudgery, it hurts my mind. Ramesses has a really cool song on there and The Plague of Gentlemen destroy with some sick thick as molases shit, like warhorse. Also is Negative Reaction, sick and nasty Moss. This is ABSOLUTELY worth finding at any cost, you simply must own this, you are a pussy if this is not in your cd collection.Go get it, mossdoomatyahoo.com |

Crushers Killers Destroyers 2 -compilation Yet another Fantastic comp from the mighty shifty records.This has so many good songs, first off, Gary some how got Mike from Bongzilla to write two new songs with Weedeater, and record them in Ohio. One Dixie sings, and the other Mike uses his classic Bongzilla razor in throat voice to deliver the sickest, sludgiest swamp rot, with Dave backin it up...It is so sick! I simply can not stress that enough, a real rare classic ONLY available on this rare comp. The production is fantastic too. Also, there are new songs from Moho, and Tusks of Blood that are worth checking out, Cruevo also delivers an amazing track that is bitter sweet like a 48 yr old in pig tails...Nasty. There are some more Fistula tracks that are really great, AND Corey, the singer/guitarist from Fistula, has his own personal project King Travolta on here, songs that poke fun of gay stoner rock, with insanely disgusting "You call yourself heavy" and "Queens of the Stoner Age". DISROBE - Demo These Chicago boys know brutality, and they know how to put on a damn good show, with a great front-man, who is willing to dive face first from a chair into the floor, just to get his point across...which is BRUTALITY. RUE/ALDEBERAN -split This is a great record, some choice new licks from RUE, including a bad ass tune called "You say one Thing" which really has some good hooks, especially the Soilent/acidbath kind of vocals.Musicly, it is solid and worth checking out. Aldederan totally rocks, they remind me of a big dead zombie wrestler, who picks his opponent up by the balls, and lifts him slowly above his head, while squeezing the testicles into oblivion, then spins up upside down (by the balls still) and bites into his eyeball, sucking out the brains through the eye socket...Then he breaks the opponents spine over his knee, and eats the refforee too...Yes, its that good...For Fans of Ramessees, Sofaking Killer and god damned good shit.Go get it. Limbic Riot - Demo This is all the way from the U.K. I get a strong sense that these are death metal kids who are leaning towards doom, much like old Novembers Doom. The production isn't amazing, but the riffs are really good. This is a band with allot of potential, I like the songs allot and hope they go more the sludge route, drop some of the death metal growls and double bass and find someone really good to record with, and they definitely will be a force to be reckoned with. Stevie Hayes Records- Compilation Man this is weird. There is so much music on this cd that traverses a such a variety of music, From Black Metal to punk to straight up satanic clown noise...I have been dreading this review, because there is so much content.Some things really stand out, like Midget Parade, Seaphim Slaughter, Aliment and Decrypt. Stevie is motivated and political and is on a good path, he is all about helping out local music and spending his own money to make this comp and send it out for the masses...SATANS SCROTUM...Do support StevieHayes |

Grievous- "One breath from Winter " This is with out a doubt my favorite new band. This is fantastic doom, with deep throbbing bass and wahed out chugaholic stoner guitar, deep echoing drums, and insanely sick vocals that sound much like boiling baby's blood was quaffed before every curdling scream.The way Doom should fucking be..The song structures are nearly flawless, starting slow and, taking me, the listener on a great journey. This is also very attainable, not like basement sludge, this is something you can listen to over and over again without impotence. And there are some sick sounding things achieved on this record, for instance, the slowest double bass roll known to man. The cd also comes with a great silk screened cover, designed by Aaron Edge, who should be known for his Y.O.B. designs among others, infact, this is his band...This is certainly as genius as Y.O.B. I would equate this album to being lost in some foreboding north western woods, in mid winter, while you are wet and underdressed, under a fool moon, in a snow storm, and there are fucking druids hunting you...Druids that want to tie you to a tree and pull out your intestines and wrap them around a goat and set in on fire. and I must simply not be understated, or allow underestimation, this album is fucking four stars!!!
