The Mighty Nimbus full length This is the Side Project of members of SixtyWatt Shaman and Alabama Thunderpussy, and you can tell. A fine mix, and great for fans of both bands. It has a good meatyness to it. Lots of southern throb, like slamming down big chunks of red meat onto a table. A good cd all around. There are some nice solos and a cool St. Vitus cover of "born too late" with death metal vocals. They most especially sound killer live. checkitout |

Tusk "the Tree of No Return" ep This is a prog rock nightmare. This is the original hardcore band of the guys from Pelican, before they were pelican. This albulm has been in the works for many years, and contains mostly tearin it up type noise and chaos of many chords and technicals that I will never understand. Infact its way over my head, some parts are really cool. I am not a fan of the production. The artwork and layout is done by Aaron Turner, and turned out pretty cool, there is also a nice bonus plugin for your computer, where the cover art comes alive, and you can watch some video, one of them Is by Me, but they miss spelt my name. This live footage completes the cd and makes it well worth checking out, if only to see the lead singer in full mental madness. I will miss jody for sure. . If you are cool you will get it. |

Couldron "Self Titled "ep This is another band from chicago, containing members of the infamous Johnny vommit. However, this is very metal, and I like it allot. I most especially dig the vocals which turned out very well, they are harsh and rather unique. I allso dig the lyrics more than anything, very pained. I look forward to seeing this live. For fans of Unsane. Website |

Jumbos KillCrane - "The Slow Decay " The most complete sounding album from these Kansas City fellas yet. Strong, and punishing, with dirge riffs that exceed ten minutes. It will make you feel like your eardrums are decaying with sounds like the "Brown Note" and "coital abyss". Hard hitting drums, and customized guitar tones. This albulm is sick, and you would be a sick fucker to listen to it. Absolutely worth checking out. crucialblast |

Icepick Revival - "Distress Signal" Man this is weird. Icepick has always had a really weird song structure, they don't fit many of the pegholes. It is definitely metal at most parts, the rest is kind of mental, but the vocals are sort of a weird caustic strain between screaming and chocking in harmony, its un unsettling sound for me, like a dying animal in another apartment. You can hear it, but can't help it. Its only three songs, but they are good ones. For fans of really old Neurosis, self mutilation and sadism. Ataloss knows how to pick 'em. Atalossrecords |
